BINTA DIXON
Binta Dixon is a writer, a deep listener, and a student of herbalism. She was born and raised among the pine trees, oak trees, mushrooms, and red birds of North Carolina. Her family’s heritage and oral histories include Indigenous peoples of the Eastern region of North Carolina as well as Black farmers, explorers, and revolutionaries. Binta’s upbringing was nurtured by poets, afro-futurist writers, and rebels from many cultural traditions.
She is engaged in the art and study of well-being practice, storytelling, and world reimagining. She enjoys biking on nature trails, traveling intentionally, and telling corny jokes. Binta likes experimenting with sound in many forms including drumming, singing, and nature sound immersion. She is committed to practicing reciprocity, listening to the wisdom of children and elders, and infusing life with humor and creative play. On most days you can find her making tea and spending time with her kittens, partner, and nature friends.
